It’s ideal for people who want instant whitening gratification or those who have that special event coming up that requires a bright, white smile.

What is Opalescence Boost?

Opalescence Boost is a simple, non-invasive dental treatment used to change the color of natural tooth enamel and an ideal way to enhance the beauty of your smile. See professional results—in about an hour at Serenity Dental Woodbury. Opalescence Boost contains PF (potassium nitrate and fluoride). Potassium nitrate has been shown to help reduce sensitivity. Fluoride has been shown to help reduce caries and strengthen enamel. Together they help to improve the overall health of the teeth.

Advantages of Opalescence Boost

  • chemically activated, so no hot, uncomfortable light is needed
  • dentist-applied treatment
  • provides results in less than one hour

Reasons for teeth whitening with Opalescence Boost:

  • fluorosis (excessive fluoridation during tooth development)
  • normal wear of outer tooth layer
  • stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, etc.)
  • yellow, brown stained teeth.

How does Opalescence Boost work?

Opalescence Boost whitening gel can quickly whiten you smile.  Before applying it to your teeth, the assistant or hygienist at Serenity Dental Woodbury will place a protective barrier for your gums.  Then a thin layer of Opalescence Boost is applied on the surface of your teeth for 20 minutes.  The gel will then be removed and reapplied for a final treatment of 20 minutes. The treatment is preformed in the conform of a massaging chair with option of watching a movie.

Whitening and tooth sensitivity

Tooth sensitivity is a common side effect of any teeth whitening and varies from patient to patient.  If sensitivity is uncomfortable the staff at Serenity Dental Woodbury may suggest desensitizing ingredients like potassium nitrate and fluoride to help reduce sensitivity and provide additional and quicker sensitivity relief.

How long do whitening results last?

Teeth whitening results are very stable; leaving you with a stunning smile long after treatment is over. However, there are a few factors that can make teeth lose their luster. Things like genetics, diet, age, some medications (like tetracycline), and certain habits (like smoking) may affect the length of your whitening results. Fortunately, touch-up treatments are quick and easy, helping you bring back that bright white smile. Ask your Serenity Dental Woodbury team member for suggestions to keep your white smile lasting.
